Just tried the Netflix after the global launch program in Hong Kong and I suddenly remembered that I was once researching how to stream the videos with large-scale architecture called consonant broadcasting. It was an architecture of how to minimize the bandwidth usage with a start up latency constraint. Even though with the advancement of the video compression technologies and network technologies, bandwidth may not be a big concern these days, the architecture still plays a good fundamental understanding of how different system parameters interact with each other.
